Film Poster 1 - Bradford

The class critique on my assignment was interesting. There seemed to be a lot of curiosity and different interpretations of the background of my poster. Some said fire, others grass and even someone suggested the mane of a lion. Beyond that there was not any mention of changing any other aspect of my piece. Over all, I feel I accomplished my goal for the assignment and I am happy with the outcome of the Poster.

I think black and red are two of the strongest colors you can use to represent contrast. Traditionally red and black conjures images of death, anger, sinister, passion, etc... I love how the words are passing by. As if to represent life and how quickly it passes. It is a fantastic interpretation of the movie in poster form.

If you follow the story of Precious you can really see how this artist captured this characters essence. Even though this isn't a Saul Bass original I really like it. The brokenness of the body represent to me a person who feels battered but not broken, heroic but mortal. Someone who is susceptible to pain yet knows she must go on. I think out of all of Bass's work this poster speaks volumes. Sometimes simplicity can be more powerful than over-theatrics. This design is a great example of that.

This is such an Iconic Poster in my opinion. The choice of Characters and color contrast is nothing less than genius. I look at this poster and I know exactly what scene this is from in the movie. The emotion it gives off is powerful. It always amazes me the amount of emotion Art can give. This poster definitely accomplishes that feeling.

I really love his use of bold color. It sets the mood for what to expect. His simplicity and pattern choice is what makes him unique. This is one of the best representation of a Star Wars poster I think I've ever seen.
